Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how Meritize Financial, Inc. (“us”, “our”, and “we”) may collect, use and disclose your personal information and applies to all who use our website, www.meritize.com. What information does Meritize collect?

As part of providing you with financial products or services, we may obtain information about you from several sources. We collect information from you when you interact with the Site or when you create an account (“Account”) for interacting with the Site. Such information includes “Personal Information” and “Non-Identifying Information”. Personal Information means information about you that specifically identifies you or, when combined with other information we have, can be used to identify you, including, but not limited to contact information such as:

Non-Identifying Information means information that alone cannot identify you, including:

We use cookies to identify the areas of our Site that you have visited, to identify your account so that you can access various parts or features of our Site, and to personalize the content that you see on our Site. Most web browsers can be set to disable the use of cookies. However, if you disable cookies, you may not be able to access features on our Site correctly or at all.   • Web Beacons: Collect general information about your use of our Site and your use of special promotions or newsletters. The information we collect by Web Beacons allows us to statistically monitor the number of people that open our emails. Our Web Beacons are not used to track your activity outside of our Site. We do not link Non-Identifying Information from Web Beacons to Personal Information without your permission.

This information includes the name of the website from which you entered our Site, as well as the name of the website you visit when you leave our Site. This information also includes the IP address of your computer/proxy server that you use to access the Internet, your Internet Website provider name, web browser type, type of mobile devise, and computer operating system. We use all this information to analyze trends among our users to help improve the Site.
  • Device Data: You may manage how your mobile device and mobile browser share certain device data with us, as well as how your mobile browser handles cookies by adjusting the privacy and security settings on your mobile device.

How does Meritize use and share information?

In order to provide our full range of services, we use collected information to:

  • Operate, maintain and improve the Site;
  • Evaluate your creditworthiness;
  • Contact you in a response to a loan application;
  • Provide you support or other services you request;
  • Provide you with our services and to fulfill contractual obligations to you;
  • For specific purpose or for legitimate business purposes;
  • Communicate and provide additional information that may be of interest to you;
  • Send reminders, technical notices, updates, security alerts, support and administrative messages, service bulletins, marketing messages, and requested information; and
  • Send commercial emails
    • You may choose not to receive commercial e-mails from us by adjusting e-mail preferences in your Account. Even if you unsubscribe from commercial e-mail messages, we may still e-mail you noncommercial e-mails related to your Account and your transactions on the Site.

Transaction Processing

If you apply for a loan using the Meritize website, we will use your information to facilitate your loan request and service your loan once it has been funded. Meritize is a service provider to its partner banks, and all loans facilitated through the Meritize website are made and funded by a partner bank. The information collected in connection with a loan may include:

  • Generating your borrower profile;
  • Processing and decisioning your loan application on behalf of its partner banks, the lenders for any loan; and
  • Addressing any disputes, you may raise concerning your account.

We reserve the right to share information as required or permitted by law through:

  • Our vendors who provide services to us and who are required to protect Personal Information;
  • Electronic communication with you as part of the fulfillment of a request, offer, program, or other activity in which you have elected to participate;
  • Compliance with legal orders and government requests (or as needed to support auditing, compliance, and corporate governance functions);
  • Combating fraud or criminal activity, legal process and to protect our rights or our affiliates; and
  • Your consent.

We do not share Personal Information with third-party ad-servers (third-parties that provide the technology to place ads on websites and track ad performance); however, third-party servers may automatically collect Non-Identifying Information about your visit to the Site and other websites.

How long does Meritize keep Personal Information collected online?

We cannot always delete records of past interactions and transactions. You may delete your Account and remove your Personal Information, but others who gained access to such information as a result of your interaction with them or your use of the services and goods available via our Site may have retained copies for their files or database. We retain your Personal Information for as long as your Account is active, as needed to provide you services, or as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce the agreements we have entered.

Security

We have implemented an information security program that contains administrative, technical and physical controls that are designed to reasonable safeguard Personal Information. However, no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Privacy Practices of Third-Parties

This Privacy Policy only applies to how we handle your information on our Site. Other websites that may be accessible through links from the Site have their own privacy statements, personal information collection, use and disclosure practices.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is designed and intended for adults. By using the Site, you represent you are at least 18 years old. If we obtain actual knowledge of an Account associated with a registered user who is not at least 18 years old, information associated with the account will be promptly deleted.

Policy Changes

We always reserve the right to discontinue or modify any part of this Privacy Policy in our sole discretion. If we make any changes that affect your use of the Site or the services or goods offered by us via the Site, we will post notice of the change on the Privacy Policy page. Any changes to this Privacy Policy are effective upon the posting by us of the revision. If you do not agree to the changes, you must discontinue use of the Site and any services or goods offered via the Site after the effective changes. Your continued use of the Site and any services or goods provided via the Site constitutes acceptance of changes and the Privacy Policy as modified.
